Highlights for Haunted Tours of San Diego: The Whaley House in Old Town and the Hotel Del Coronado are often included on lists of the Top 10 most haunted places in America. Old Town is one of the few historical areas in the country where buildings from the early to mid-1800s have been preserved. San Diego is also home to the world’s oldest sailing vessle. This provides a great opportunity for ghost hunters to meet spirits from the past. A number of San Diego companies provide visitors from around the world tours of haunted Old Town and other historic sites in San Diego. Here are a few local tour companies to help you get started on finding a ghostly adventure. (Costs are approximate.)

Haunted San Diego Ghost Tours – Take a two-hour tour on a Ghost Bus through Old Town and the Gaslamp Quarter. You will visit buildings famous for its ghosts, including the Whaley House. Professionaly Costumed Storytellers will share ten ghost tails during the haunted tour. Tours runs Thursdays through Mondays starting at 6:30PM (summer and Saturdays) and 8:30PM (year-round). The cost is $35.

Ghostly Tours in History – Limo and Walking Tours available Thursdays through Saturdays. Take a one-hour evening ghost tour in Old Town or the Gaslamp Quarter. Pricing for the walks starts at $10. The three-hour Limo tour takes visitors to haunted locations throughout San Diego including Old Town, the Gaslamp, and a historic ship. Limo Tours start at 6:30PM and cost $50.

Old Town’s Most Haunted – Take a ghostly walking tour of Old Town at 9PM or embark on a ghost hunt at 11PM. The former costs $19 and the latter $49. Tours are offered Thursdays through Sundays.

San Diego Ghost Hunters – Join paranormal investigations conducted by a team of investigators that work with historical landmark owners in San Diego and other parts of the country. San Diego Ghost Hunters will take you on an hour-long Paranormal Investigation Tour that starts late in the evening at the Whaley House. These paranormal investigations generally take place the last Friday or Saturday of the month. (Extra sessions offered in October for Halloween.) Book early as tours sell out weeks in advance. Tickets cost $50 and proceeds go towards supporting the Save Our Heritage Organization’s restoration efforts at the Whaley House.

The Haunted Star of India – Step aboard the oldest active sailing vessel in the world for a five hour paranormal experience. Tours take place once a month and tickets cost $40. Located at the San Diego Maritime Museum, the tour of the Haunted Star of India includes areas of the ship generally not accessible to the public.
