Highlights for the Butterfly Vivarium: The lengthy migration of Monarch Butterflies has befuddled biologists for years, especially considering butterflies do not live longer than a few months. However, multiple generations find their way from the United States down to their winter sanctuaries in Mexico and back. The Monarch Program is a research and education program centered around Monarch butterflies. The Butterfly Vivarium is a 1,200 square foot, outdoor facility providing a nurturing habitat for butterflies. Nearly 15 species of butterflies are housed in the Vivarium. You can view pictures and information about each of these butterfly species on their web site. Visitors are welcome to visit and learn about these butterflies.
