cygnet-theatreCygnet Theatre Highlights: The Cygnet Theatre began in 2003 near San Diego State University (Rolando area) and quickly became recognized for top quality productions. This has enabled them to expand their performance schedule to a second theatre in Old Town.

Season Schedule – The Cygnet Theatre offers at least eight performances a year, including two holiday traditions, ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ and ‘A Christmas Carol’.

Seating Charts – The Old Town Theatre holds 248 guests while the Rolando Theatre holds 157 guests.

Information on Visiting the Old Town Location

Directions from Google Maps to 4040 Twiggs Street in San Diego, CA 92110. (It is at the south end of the Old Town San Diego Historic State Park.)

Parking – There is street parking and you will see a number of small parking lots on the Park Map for the Old Town State Park. However, these spots fill up quickly. The advice is to take the first available parking spot as you enter enter Old Town. If you don’t have patience looking for a parking spot, you should take the San Diego Trolley. (See Transit below.) On evenings and weekends, you can use the CALTRANS parking lot at 4050 Taylor Street. From here, you will have about a quarter mile walk, including crossing the busy Taylor Street.

Traffic – It is relatively easy to reach Old Town since it is close to both the I-5 and I-8 freeways. Traffic on the I-5 is not bad in this area. You will have some heavy delays if you need to head east on I-8 during the evening rush hour. There will also be a slight delay if you need to head west on I-8 to the end of the freeway during the evening rush hour. (Learn how to get the latest traffic updates.) The hardest part is dealing with the number of cars on the streets in Old Town looking for parking spots, especially in the evenings during summer and on weekends.

Transit – The Old Town Trolley Stop is four blocks from the Cygnet Theatre. This is the best way to get in and out of Old Town. (See San Diego Transit Information for information on using the online Transit Planner that will plan you route to Old Town and to print out a Trolley Schedule.)

Information on Visiting the Rolando Location (Near San Diego State)

Directions from Google Maps to 6663 El Cajon Boulevard in San Diego, CA 92115. (The Theatre is located in a Shopping Plaza on the south side of the Street.)

Parking – Parking is available in the Shopping Plaza parking lot.

Traffic – You will encounter some traffic delays if you head east on I-8 towards the theatre during the evening rush hour. Learn how to get the latest traffic updates.) The traffic is also heavy near the theatre because of its proximity to San Diego State University but the delays are only minor.

Transit – The Blue and Green lines of the San Diego Trolley stop in Old Town, about a 1/2 mile from the Cygnet Theatre. There is also a bus stop at the shopping plaza. (See San Diego Transit Information for information on using the online Transit Planner and to print out a Trolley Schedule.)
