Bazaar Del Mundo Highlights: For some, the Bazaar Del Mundo is a destination itself. For others, it is a great place to browse around for unique gifts after spending a day touring the historic attractions in Old Town. You will find nine shops selling Colorful Ladies Fashions, Latin American Folk Art, Native American Jewelry, Ceramics, Pottery, Kitchenware, Hard-to-Find Books, and more. When people think of Mexico, they often think Fiesta and Festive Colors. This theme carries through all of the shops making them a shopping magnet. You will also find exotic gifts from Europe and Asia. (Learn more about shopping at Bazaar Del Mundo.)
While visiting Old Town, visitors generally seek out good, authentic Mexican food. Bazaar Del Mundo’s Casa Guadalajara is one of the most popular Mexican restaurants, in a casual Hacienda setting.
Information on Visiting Bazaar Del Mundo
Directions from Google Maps to 4133 Taylor Street in San Diego, CA 92110.
Parking – If you are driving east on Taylor Street, you can take any of the next three right turns after passing the traffic light at Juan Street. The first larger parking area surrounds Casa Guadalajara, which is then followed by parking areas surrounding the shops. If you have been visiting Old Town San Diego Historic State Park, many choose to walk the couple blocks down Juan Street to Bazaar Del Mundo. On evenings and weekends, when parking can be more difficult, you can use the CALTRANS parking lot at 4050 Taylor Street, which is right across the street from Bazaar Del Mundo.
Traffic – It is relatively easy to reach Old Town since it is close to both the I-5 and I-8 freeways. Traffic on the I-5 is not bad in this area. You will have some heavy delays if you need to head east on I-8 during the evening rush hour. There will also be a slight delay if you need to head west on I-8 to the end of the freeway during the evening rush hour. (Learn how to get the latest traffic updates.) The hardest part is dealing with the number of cars on the streets in Old Town looking for parking spots, especially in the evenings during summer and on weekends.
Transit – The Blue and Green lines of the San Diego Trolley stop in Old Town, two blocks away from Bazaar Del Mundo. Just walk east on Taylor Street. This is the best way to get in and out of Old Town. (See San Diego Transit Information for information on using the online Transit Planner that will plan your route to Old Town and to print out a Trolley Schedule.)
