Gift Shop at U.S. Olympic Training Center is Closing

Update: Good news. The Gift Shop was reopened as of June 2012.
Olympic Training Center

If you want to buy Olympic souvenirs and help support our Olympic athletes, be sure to visit the only year-round Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista by Saturday, June 19.

Many San Diegans don’t realize the Olympic Training Center is in our backyard helping athletes in a variety of sports, including Archery, Biathlon, BMX, Bobsled, Canoe/Kayak, Cycling, Field Hockey, Luge, Rowing, Rugby, Skeleton, Skiing/Snowboarding, Soccer, Softball, Speedskating, Swimming, Track & Field, Triathlon, Volleyball, and Water Polo. In the near future it will become the home of Beach Volleyball as well as serve Gymnasts and Wrestlers.

I recently made another visit to the training center and learned that too few San Diegans have been visiting the Center to support continuing the operation of the gift shop, or the Spirit Store, as they call it. So, it’ll be closing this Saturday.

While there, you can take a self-guided tour by walking along the mile-long Conrad Hilton Olympic Path.  Guided tours are offered at 11AM on Saturdays. So, visit the only year-round Olympic Training Center in the United States and support our Olympic Athletes!
