San Diego Among Best Green Cities

by

Recycling in San DiegoCountry Home Magazine just issued its 2008 Best Green Cities list. The San Diego region came in 32nd out of 379 that made the list.

The report analyzed hundreds of cities on key points, such as official energy policies, green power, green buildings, and the availability of fresh, locally grown food. We should hopefully rank even higher next year as the City of San Diego now requires condominium associations to provide recycling options to its residents.

Check out the 2008 green city rankings and vote to make San Diego one of the Top 5 Green Communities in the country to be showcased online. Write why San Diego should be a top 5 city in 50 words or less.

On Monday, we shared one way to help the environment by buying carbon offsets from the Del Mar based Nature and Culture International, which uses the funds to preserve South American rain forests. Recommend other ways San Diegans can help preserve our environment by noting it in the comments below.
