2nd Best City In CA for Having Babies

San Diego babies are less likely to be born prematurely and thus more likely to be born with proper birth weight.

San Diego mothers receive the 7th best timely or adequate prenatal care in the country. We rank 8th highest for mothers attempting breastfeeding (86%) with over 50% continuing this until at least 6 months of age.

Mothers in San Diego get a leg up on their peers with the perfect weather for getting out and working off pregnancy weight gain. It also helps that San Diego parks provide 275 miles of trails and pathways for hiking and stroller use.

Interestingly, San Diegans rank 5th for the likelihood of having a doula available to help the mother. However, if you don’t have one, don’t worry. Only one in 159 have this helpful option. But, that is better than the one is 649 for the rest of the country.
